Electrical Testing

Building or Installation Testing

In association with our installation services we can provide full electrical testing and monitoring of your building or installation. This allows us to:

• Monitor the quality and stability of incoming power supplies

• Monitor the power usage of a building, or section of a building

• Assess the spare capacity of your electrical supplies

• Assess current flow, power factors and voltage stability

But why do this?

By undertaking a comprehensive survey you are able to demonstrate that the electrical integrity of an installation is in a safe condition. Furthermore, it can identify faults which are costing you money - where current and voltage fluctuate, this can cause problems such as overheating cables, premature failing of equipment, unstable power supplies, crashing of computers and false activation of security or fire systems.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Test)

It is now a normal requirement that any equipment used in a public venue has been subject to an electrical safety test. The Electric Company is staffed by individuals with an excellent knowledge of equipment and processes used in the entertainment and leisure industries. This means we are perfectly placed to accommodate your testing needs, from individual musicians with a couple of items to large theatres with hundreds of lanterns, control desks and sound/ A/V equipment. 

"Normal" PAT testing companies are well acquainted with office equipment, but can get into difficulty when faced with the requirements of stage lanterns, non-standard plugs, sensitive musical instruments and the like. The Electric Company sees this sort of gear every day and of course all our own hire stock is tested regularly making us the perfect choice for PAT testing.

If you run a venue, to avoid insurance difficulties we strongly recommend that you ensure that all contractors use PAT tested equipment. All reputable lighting and sound companies comply with this requirement and usually equipment will be marked to say its been tested.
